10/11/2017: The Robins are now 6-0 on the season after a hard fought 6-3 win over the Anoka-Hennepin Mustangs. The Robins maintained a pretty high level of control over this game right from the start, but the Mustangs did a good job of keeping things just tight enough that the Robins really had to work to earn the win. The Robins held a 3-0 lead at halftime, led by a pair of first half goals from Izear Joiner. Another 3 goal spurt in the middle of the second half had the Robins leading 6-1 with 8:13 remaining, however the Mustangs added 2 goals in the final 7 minutes to keep things interesting. Joiner finished the game with 3 goals and 1 assist. Other goals were scored by Sam Roles, Brendan Bosker-Elliott and Calvin Gerdt. Assists were credited to Bosker-Elliott, Roles, Marcus Brady and goalkeeper Vincent Luu. Luu also finished the game with 18 saves. Ethan Sullivan led the defensive effort with 6 blocked shots. The Robins are on the road next Monday, at Highview Middle School, to face the Mounds View-Irondale-Roseville Rams.

On Wednesday, the Robins were at home against the Mounds View Rams. This game was tense in the opening 20 minutes with the Robins struggling to find their stride, and holding a slim 3-2 lead. At the final buzzer, the Robins were walking off the floor with a 9-2 victory. Sam Roles led the way with 4 goals, and Calvin Gerdt was strong in a supporting role, tallying 2 goals and 4 assists.

09/20/2017: In the 2017 adapted soccer season opener, the Robins found themselves locked up in a heated battle with the Park Center Pirates. The Robins took a 2-0 lead early on, but the Pirates’ speed and aggressiveness wiped the lead away very quickly. These things, combined with some sloppy play by the Robins, allowed the Pirates to hold a 4-3 lead at halftime. The second half started with a Sam Roles goal, less than two minutes in, which was his fourth of the game. From there, Calvin Gerdt used his speed and finishing ability to score the next 5 goals for the Robins, leading them to victory. Gerdt also finished the game with 3 assists. Izear Joiner had 2 assists, and Brendan Bosker-Elliott has 1 assist. Jordan O’Donnell, Lydia Mazza and Ethan Sullivan all blocked 3 shots each on defense, while Vincent Luu made 28 saves. The Robins will have their first home game of the year next Monday, Sept. 25 at 4:15 PM against Anoka-Hennepin.
