After a lengthy time away from regular competitions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Robins are back! After all out cancellations during the 2020 floor hockey and softball seasons and training sessions with exhibition games for the duration of the 2020-2021 seasons, we are scheduled to have “normal” practices and regular season games this fall. While there likely will be various protocols to follow and game postponements or cancellations, we’re ready to get back in the gym and get to work! The first day of practice is Wednesday, September 15 at Armstrong.

Due to some facility conflicts at Armstrong, our adapted floor hockey training season schedule has been adjusted a bit. Please make sure you are using version 2 of the schedule, which is attached here. Please reach out to Jonah or Patrick with questions.

The MAAA and MSHSL have jointly decided to replace the 2020-2021 Adapted Floor Hockey regular season with a training season, just like we had during adapted soccer. With COVID-19 ramping up around the state, leaders within both groups felt the best way to keep our athletes and families safe is to eliminate competitions and travel, but still allow teams to gather on their own terms, in small groups for training sessions. At this time, Governor Walz has put all youth sports on hold until mid-December, so the January 4 opening date for floor hockey is still in play. With Gov. Walz set to reevaluate things in mid-December, things certainly could change, so please keep an eye on the team website, Facebook and Twitter in addition to your emails for more information. The tentative training schedule is now available for download. Please reach out to coaches Jonah Pridey and Patrick Dreher with any questions.

The regular adapted soccer season for 202 has been replaced with an 8 session training season, approved by the MSHSL. These training sessions will provide our athletes an opportunity to practice their soccer skills and maintain social involvement with their teammates in an environment that is as safe and socially distant as possible. Outdoor training sessions will be utilized as much as possible to limit the possible spread of COVID-19, with indoor sessions used only when the weather is not appropriate for the team to work outside. These training sessions are voluntary, and opting out of these sessions will not have an impact on an athlete’s standing with the team. The coaching staff has scheduled training sessions on the following dates and will send information on the training sites at the beginning of each week. All sessions will run from 3:30 PM – 4:30 PM.

9/21, 9/23, 9/28, 9/30 10/05, 10/07, 10/12, 10/19

Please contact the Robins coaching staff if you have any questions regarding this training season.

While we didn’t get a chance to give our floor hockey season the ending it deserved with a trip to the state tournament, our kids still got a little bit of recognition for the work they put in all season long.
