The Robins got 3 goals from Jose Leon Estrada in the opening four minutes of play, which turned out to be more than they needed to seal the victory over the Anoka-Hennepin Mustangs. Estrada finished the game with 5 goals on 6 shots. Grady Lease had a breakout game, playing very well throughout and managed to score the first 3 goals of his Robins career. Abbi Lashuay scored on a long kick from the defensive end of the floor, and after putting in 28 minutes of shutout goalkeeping, Josh Reis moved to forward and scored his first goal of the season. Jayda Johnson controlled the tempo of the game, just as she always does, and added 2 assists along the way. Micah Bomgardner finished with 1 goal, Junior Dockter recorded 2 assists, and Nick Johnson, Noah Mittendorff and Dylan Sibila also recorded 1 assist each. Reis and Sean Majeski blocked a total of 6 shots and combined for the shutout, with Majeski covering the net for the final 12 minutes. The Robins are on the road next Monday for a huge game against Dakota United.

The Robins were on the road at St. Paul Humboldt this afternoon to take on the Hawks. A fast start, with 3 goals in the first 5 minutes was all the Robins needed to cruise to an 8-2 victory and a 4-0 regular season record. Noah Mittendorff got the scoring started today, burying a shot from the corner just 1:20 into the game. He finished the day with 2 goals. Jose Leon Estrada and Hector Vega Flores matched Mittendorff’s effort, also scoring 2 goals each, with Estrada also adding 2 assists. Nick Johnson and Abbi Lashuay scored the other goals for the Robins, while Jayda Johnson added 2 assists and Dylan Sibila and Grady Lease also had 1 assist each. Josh Reis covered the net for the first 30 minutes, making 14 saves before Sean Majeski took over for the final 10 minutes, making 5 saves. The Robins are now off until October 24 when they are at the Andover Community Center to face Anoka-Hennepin.

The Robins put forth another awesome effort this afternoon, defeating Minneapolis 7-3 to move to 3-0 on the season. Today, it was a hot start that propelled the Robins to victory, as they found the back of the net often in the first half and led 5-1 at halftime. Jayda Johnson scored a goal on a long direct kick 5 minutes into the game and later added an assist to go along with her usual fantastic defense. She almost single handedly held Minneapolis to just 6 shots on goal in the first half by contstantly attacking the ball and clearing the defensive zone. Along with Jayda, Abbi Lashuay also was extremely solid in the defensive zone and added 2 goals and an assist of her own. Jose Leon Estrada scored 3 goals while Nick Johnson added a goal, Jo’Vonna Shepherd added an assist and Noah Mittendorff added 2 assists. Several players took turns playing in a wheelchair to provide defensive assistance to goalkeeper Josh Reis, including Micah Bomgardner, Junior Dockter, Nick Johnson, Jo’Vonna Shepherd and Jeremiah Vaughn. Reis finished the game with 18 saves. The Robins are back at it again tomorrow with a game at St. Paul Humboldt.

The Robins moved to 2-0 this afternoon with a fantastic 9-0 win over the Rochester Raiders. The gym at Armstrong was packed once again today, with many members of the Falcons’ boys soccer team in attendance cheering for the home team. Jose Leon Estrada was nearly unstoppable once again, leading the team with 3 goals. Abbi Lashuay played an incredible game and finished with 2 goals and 2 assists. Eighth grader Hector Vega Flores had a great game as well, scoring the first 2 goals of his Robins’ career while adding an assist. Nick Johnson and Noah Mittendorff also played very well, adding 1 goal and 1 assist each. Micah Bomgardner contributed 2 assists. For the game, the Robins outshot the Raiders 37 – 12 and dominated the tempo of the game from start to finish. The Robins are at home next Tuesday against Minneapolis. Way to go, Robins!

The Robins kicked off the 2023 soccer season in front of a packed gym at Armstrong this afternoon, and came away with an awesome 9-2 win over the Park Center Pirates. The Pirates took an early 1-0 lead with 14:30 remaining in the first half, but it was all Robins from there. Jose Leon Estrada scored 3 times before halftime to give the Robins a 3-1 lead. Estrada scored 3 more times before Nick Johnson found the back of the net off a nice pass from Estrada. Seventh grader, Dylan Sibila, scored the first goal of his Robins’ career by burying a direct kick from 30 feet out to extend the Robins lead to 8-2. Estrada put his 7th goal of the game in the net with 2:45 remaining, tying a team record for goals in a single game. Josh Reis was solid in net, making 12 saves. Recording assists for the Robins were: Grady Lease, Dylan Sibila, Noah Mittendorff, Micah Bomgardner, Jayda Johnson, Nick Johnson and Hector Vega Flores. The Robins are at home next Tuesday at 4:45 when they face the Rochester Raiders.
