The Robins finished off another highly successful adapted floor hockey regular season tonight with a 10-4 win over the Anoka-Hennepin Mustangs. It took the Robins a while to shake off a slow start, as the Mustangs kept the game close, trailing just 4-2 heading in to the final period. Six goals by the Robins offense and just six shots on goal allowed by the Robins defense was what it took to finally put the game away. Vincent Luu led the way with 5 goals and 1 assist. Sam Roles and Calvin Gerdt each had 2 goals and 1 assist. Maddie Ausk scored 1 goal while Izear Joiner and Marcus Brady each had 1 assist. Hayley Engebretsen made 31 saves. Ethan Sullivan and Lydia Mazza each blocked 3 shots, while Darius Larson blocked 4 and Edgar Kinanga blocked 8. The Robins now have two weeks to prepare for the state tournament in which they will be the #2 North seed, facing #3 South seed St. Paul Humboldt in the opening round on March 16.

The Robins got themselves back on track this afternoon with a very nicely played 13-3 win over the Mounds View Rams. A seven goal first period got everyone involved and helped the entire team shake off the loss to Brainerd on Monday. Great passing and floor spacing were huge keys to the team success in this game. An unselfish approach by all team members also was evident, as the Robins racked up 10 assists with their 13 goals. Hat-tricks were recorded by Sam Roles, Izear Joiner and Calvin Gerdt, with Gerdt and Roles also collecting 2 assists each. Marcus Brady had 2 goals and 1 assist, Vincent Lyy had 1 goal and 1 assist and Madelyn Ausk had 1 goal and 3 assists. Hayley Engebretsen made 12 saves. Lydia Mazza led the defensive effort with 6 blocks, Edgar Kinanga had 5 blocks, Darius Larson blocked 2 and Ethan Sullivan blocked 1. The Robins are on the road to face the Maple Grove Crimson next Wednesday. The puck drops at 4:15 at Maple Grove Middle School.

On Monday afternoon, the Robins made their annual trek north to face off against the Brainerd Warriors. The Warriors were undefeated coming into this match-up, and for good reason. Their depth and firepower were simply too much for the Robins, as they cruised to a 10-5 victory. The loss put an end to the Robins’ four game winning streak. This game was relatively close through the first period, with the Robins trailing 3-1. There were a couple significant missed opportunities for the Robins in the opening period that could have made a difference in the game’s intensity heading into the second period. The Warriors opened the second period with four goals in less than five minutes to put the game out of reach. Jordan O’Donnell and Sam Roles were credited with assists for the Robins, while Brendan Bosker-Elliott had 1 goal, Vincent Luu had 2 goals and 1 assist and Calvin Gerdt had 2 goals and 2 assists. Hayley Engebretsen made 20 saves while Darius Larson blocked 6 shots and Ethan Sullivan blocked 4.
