The Robins softball team suffered their first defeat of the season on Monday afternoon, losing to the Anoka-Hennepin Mustangs 21-4. Thirteen fielding errors by the Robins, combined with some unbelievable hitting by the Mustangs made for a long afternoon for the home team. Trailing 9-0 in the second inning, the Robins put up 5 hits and scored 2 runs and looked like they were going to bounce back from the slow start, however, 5 more runs by the Mustangs in the third inning all but sealed the loss for the Robins. Lucas Harper, Mark Cleveland and Jose Leon Estrada all had solid games, going 2 for 2 at the plate, with Harper scoring 2 runs. The Robins now have some time to work on a few areas as they are without a game until next Wednesday when they travel to the Andover Community Center for a rematch with Anoka-Hennepin.

The Robins were scheduled for game number two of their regular season non-conference matchup with Minneapolis this afternoon, however, due to a shortage of players this game never officially happened. Minneapolis had six players, which was one short of the legal minimum to start a game. Due to this, the Robins picked up the win via forfeit, then sent a pair of their players to the Minneapolis team for a scrimmage. Everyone had a good time and felt fortunate to be able to have a fun afternoon of softball. The Minneapolis/Robins blended team won the scrimmage against the rest of the Robins squad by a score of 13-8. The Robins will resume their regular, North Conference schedule on Monday, May 9 when they face Anoka-Hennepin at Armstrong.

In their first home game of the season, the Robins did a great job of entertaining their fans with some great hitting and some fantastic plays in the field on their way to a 17-2 win over the Osseo Orioles. Osseo got on the board with 1 run in the first inning, but that was the only lead they would hold in this game. The Robins strung togther 6 hits, plating 5 runs in the home half of the first inning and they were well on their way to the victory. Five more runs in the second inning, including a 3-run, bases clearing triple by Marcus Brady pushed the lead to 10-1. The Orioles put a few nice hits togther in the third to score their second and final run of the game before the Robins scored five more times in the third, including a 3-run home run by Nick Johnson. The mercy rule came into play after just 3 batters in the home half of the fourth inning, as the Robins score their final 2 runs and pushed the lead to 15. Jayda Johnson and Ava Hetteen both pitched 2 solid innings, with Hetteen recording 3 strikeouts while on the mound. The Robins are at home on Thursday to face Minneapolis in a non-conference game.
