The Robins are now 2-0 after another 14-4, 5-inning victory, this time against the Anoka-Hennepin Mustangs. The Robins defense showed significant improvement since the last game, and did a great job of limiting scoring opportunities by the Mustangs. The Robins scored the 5 run maximum in the first inning and never looked back from there. A strong second inning had the Robins in front 8-0 before the Mustangs scored their first run in the third inning. Another 5 run inning in the bottom of the third all but put the game away. The Robins middle schoolers were red-hot tonight with Grady Lease, Junior Dockter and Abbi Lashuay all going 3 for 3 at the plate. Dockter finished the game with a triple and 2 RBI, Lease had a triple and 3 RBI and Lashuay scored twice. Sophomore Noah Mittendorff was also solid again tonight, also going 3 for 3. Nick Johnson and Sean Majeski also had very solid games, with both recording 2 hits and scoring 2 times. Jayda Johnson was as good as ever on the mound, pitching all 5 innings and fielded her position extremely well. The Robins are now off until May 3rd when the travel to Osseo for a rematch with the Orioles.

The hearts of Robins fans are still recovering after the thrilling overtime victory on Wednesday night. The Robins had a three-goal lead that evaporated in the 3rd period with the Maple Grove Crimson forcing the extra period The period of bonus hockey didn’t last long, as Nick Johnson took over in OT and scored the game-winner within the first ten seconds of the period making the final score 5-4. Jose Leon Estrada led the Robins with three goals and one assist, Jayda Johnson had one goal, and Calvin Bauman and Micah Bomgardner with one assist each. The Robins now await seeding for the adapted floor hockey state tournament on March 17 & 18.

The Robins were on the road on Monday to face the undefeated Brainerd Warriors. This was a very competitive game from start to finish, with the game tied at 3 going into the final period. Unfortunately, the 3 goals from Jose Leon Estra were not enough for a victory as the Warriors just had too much offense and pulled away for a 6-3 win. Jayda Johnson, Calvin Bauman, and Abbi Lashuay all recorded one assist each. The Robins had a tremendous defensive effort anchored by Senior Darius Larson with 10 blocks and goalkeeper Sean Majeski with 7 saves. The final game of the regular season will be at home against Maple Grove at 4:30 pm on Wed,esday, February 22.

The Robins kept their hot streak going on Wednesday afternoon when they faced the Anoka-Hennepin Mustangs at Armstrong. The game was tight early on, with the Robins holding a 2-1 lead after the first period and a 4-3 lead after two periods. Anoka tied the game at 4 on a power play goal with 11:36 remaining, but the Robins offense came to life, erupting for three goals over the next 57 seconds to push the lead to 7-4 and never looked back. They added two more goals over the final 6 minutes, and the Mustangs got one more in the closing seconds to make the final 9-5 in favor of the home team. Jose Leon Estrada finished the game with 5 goals and 2 assists. Jayda Johnson had 2 goals and 2 assists, Micah Bomgardner had 1 goal and 1 assist and Nick Johnson had 1 goal. Darius Larson blocked 10 shots on defense and goalkeeper Sean Majeski had 11 saves. The Robins are on the road next Monday to face the Brainerd Warriors.

Robins demonstrated some serious grit over a physical Minneapolis team Monday night. A significant defensive effort held Minneapolis scoreless in the third period and resulted in an 8-3 non-conference win. Jose Leon Estrada led the scoring with 4 goals, Micah Bomgardner had 2 goals, Nick Johnson had 1 goal and 1 assist, and Senior Calvin Bauman had 1 goal and 2 assists. The next game is at home against Anoka on 2/8/2023 at 4:30 pm.
