The Robins made their annual road trip to Brainerd this afternoon and came home with an 11-1 loss. Despite the lopsided score, the Robins played their best overall game of the season offensively and defensively. The hard work at practice is starting to pay off, as the Robins played with a more aggressive demeanor and actively pressured the Warriors on both ends of the floor. In fact, the Robins scored the first goal of the game at the 9:54 mark of the first period on a great wrist shot by Sam Roles that was assisted by Jayda Johnson and Mark Cleveland. The Warriors struck back with 2 goals before the period ended and held a lead of just 2-1 heading into the second period. Some of the Robins youthfulness presented itself in the opening minutes of the second period as the Warriors moved the puck exceptionally well, finding holes in the Robins defense and scored 3 times in the first two minutes of the period to pull away. All of the Robins players continued to battle hard right up to the final buzzer, and everyone climbed back on the bus feeling good about their effort and the progress that has been made. Darius Larson blocked 15 shots on defense, and Edgar Kinanga made 27 saves in goal. The Robins host Mounds View on Thursday in their final home game of the season.
