02/21/2018 Robins @ Maple Grove
The Robins are now 9-3 on the season and have clinched the #2 North seed at the adapted floor hockey state tournament in March after a hard fought 9-3 win over the Maple Grove Crimson. The Robins led 3-0 after the first period and 6-3 after the second as a fast, aggressive Crimson squad refused to let the Robins run away with this game. The second period went back and forth as the teams traded six goals in a span of 5:03. The third period saw the Robins lock down on defense, limiting Crimson scoring opportunities and even killed off a two-player disadvantage due to a pair of back-to-back penalties committed by the team wearing yellow uniforms. Vincent Luu had 3 goals and 2 assists, Calvin Gerdt had 4 goals and 1 assist, Sam Roles had 1 goal and 2 assists, Brendan Bosker-Elliott had 1 goal and 3 assists and Izear Joiner had 2 assists. Hayley Engebretsen made 31 saves, while Edgar Kinanga blocked 4 shots and Darius Larson, Ethan Sullivan and Lydia Mazza all blocked 3 shots each. The Robins finish off the 2018 regular season next Wednesday at home against Anoka-Hennepin.
