ROBINS 7 ANOKA 8
March 8, 2004
In the Robins' first play-off game since 1997, they faced a very determined Anoka-Hennepin squad. The Mustangs led 2-1 after the first period, and 4-1 after the second, but then the Robins got hot. The third period saw the Robins score six times, with Chris Schumacher and Becky Vahakangas each scoring twice each. Kati Fobes scored a short-handed goal with just 1:58 remaining to make the score 8-7 in favor of the Mustangs. The Robins played the last 3:30 of the game shorthanded, and had several good scoring chances, but could not manage to net the tying goal. This was possibly the most exciting game the Robins have played in quite some time, despite not being able to advance to the State Tournament. The coaching staff and parents are extremely proud of all this team was able to accomplish this season!! GREAT SEASON ROBINS!

ROBINS 5 DAKOTA 13
March 4, 2004
The last regular season game of the 2004 adapted floor hockey season had the Robins matched up with the Hawks of Dakota United. The Robins put up a good fight, but Dakota's depth and speed were just too much for the Robins, who lost 13-5. Chris Schumacher scored four goals, and in the process, broke Mike Boss's single season scoring record of 38 goals in one season. Tim Kraske also made a spot for himself in the Robins record books, tying the single season assist record of 21, set last season by Kevin Devine. Kati Fobes scored the Robins other goal, her first goal of the season. Jessica Tounsley made 44 saves, and both Eddie Nelson and Amy Gardner made solid defensive efforts for the Robins. The Robins will now face Anoka-Hennepin in a play-off game, with the winner advancing to the State Tournament.

ROBINS 4 WHITE BEAR 8
March 3, 2004
The next opponent on the Robins schedule was the Bears of White Bear Lake, and they proved to be a formidable opponent. Another slow start by the Robins, combined with a very quick offense and defense by the Bears ultimately led to a 8-4 defeat. Chris Schumacher led the way once again, scoring four goals for the Robins. Kati Fobes and Tim Kraske both recorded one assist apiece. Jessical Tounsley made 19 saves in the net for the Robins.

ROBINS 7 BRAINERD 11
February 25, 2004
Tonight the Robins made a long road trip to face the Brainerd Warriors, and fell victim to a very slow start, losing 11-7. The Warriors jumped on the Robins early, leading 6-2 at the end of the first period. The Robins obviously had to play catch-up all night, and ran out of gas in the third period. Chris Schumacher led the Robins with six goals, and Tim Kraske made a great contribution with six assists. Kati Fobes recorded a career high three assists, and Becky Vahakangas added one goal and one assist of her own.

ROBINS 4 MAPLE GROVE 6
February 18, 2004
Today's match-up featured two arch-rivals that always seem to bring out the best (or sometimes the worst) in each other: Robins vs. Maple Grove. As usual, this game was close for the vast majority of the game's duration, but this time the Crimson were able to pull away late, defeating the Robins 6-4. Tim Kraske opened the games' scoring at the 9:00 mark of the first, finding an opening in the net with the help of a great pass from Chris Schumacher. The Crimson then got fired up and scored four unanswered goals in a time span of 12 minutes, covering the end of the first and the beginning of the second period. The Robins trailed 4-2 heading into the third period, before Chris Schumacher scored on a nice one-timer from Kraske, making the score 4-3, but it was as close as the Robins would get. For the game, Schumacher had three goals and one assist, Kraske has one goal and two assists, and Becky Vahakangas had one assist.

ROBINS 4 SOUTH MPLS. 7
February 17, 2004
Today the Robins faced off against the Tigers of Minneapolis South in a make-up game that was originally scheduled for February 2. The Robins struggled in the games first minutes and could not quite make up for the early shortfall, losing 7-4. The Tigers led 3-0 within the first 5 minutes of the game, but the Robins then dug in a bit, held South scoreless for nearly 25 minutes of game time, but still trailed 4-1 after two periods. The Robins got red-hot in the early minutes of the third period, scoring three times in less than four minutes, tying the game at four. The Tigers then scored the game's last three goals, and went on to claim the win. Chris Schumacher had three goals and one assist for the Robins. Tim Kraske had one goal and one assist, and Becky Vahakangas also recorded one assist for the Robins. Jessica Tounsley made 16 saves in the net, while Eddie Nelson and Amy Gardner made some great defensive stops of their own.

ROBINS 5 ROCHESTER 3
February 12, 2004
Tonight the Robins faced the defending State Champion Rochester Raiders, and fared quite well, defeating the Raiders 5-3. This was the Robins first victory over Rochester in their last four tries. The Raiders were a very deep, quick and talented team, but the Robins were able to overcome the challenge with some very spirited team play. The Robins took a 3-2 lead near the end of the second period when Chris Schumacher and Tim Kraske teamed up to create one of the prettiest scoring plays in team history. The puck went from Kraske to Schumacher, through the Raiders defense, and then back to Kraske and into the back of the net before the Raiders could even react. The duo hooked up for the eventual game-winning goal with less than two minutes remaining in the third, but this time it was Kraske setting up Schumacher for the score. Schumacher finished with 4 goals and 1 assist, Kati Fobes notched an assist and Kraske also had an assist to go with his goal. Jessica Tounsley made 41 saves for the Robins, and Ashley Bailey did a great job defensively, breaking up just about every Raiders offensive rush into the Robins end of the floor.

ROBINS 9 WAYZATA 5
February 10, 2004
Tonight the Robins snapped their two game losing streak with a 9-5 win over the Wayzata-Minnetonka Lakers. The team put the win together using some great passing, solid defense and some good, old-fashioned teamwork. Chris Schumacher led the way for the Robins scoring 5 goals and adding 3 assists. Tim Kraske had one of his best floor hockey games yet, recording 2 goals and 3 assists. Becky Vahakangas scored the Robins other 2 goals. Kati Fobes recorded 2 assists while Josh Buell recorded one of his own. Goalie Jessica Tounsley stopped 25 of the 30 shots she faced. The Robins record currently stands at 3-3.

ROBINS 1 HUMBOLDT 7
February 5, 2004
The Robins losing streak has now reached two games after losing to a very deep and talented St. Paul Humboldt squad by a score of 7-1. For most of the night, the game was much closer than the final score would indicate. The Robins trailed the Hawks by a score of 2-1 after the first period, and 3-1 after the second. The Robins had several great opportunities to score some goals, but just couldn't quite make things happen. The team appeared to run out of gas, so to speak, with approximately ten minutes remaining in the game. Tim Kraske scored the Robins lone goal on a nice crossing pass from Chris Schumacher with five minutes remaining in the first period.

ROBINS vs. SOUTH

Today's game against the Tigers of South Minneapolis was cancelled due to weather. This game has been rescheduled for Tuesday, February 17, 2004 at 4:30 pm at South High School. Players and parents will be reminded again about this change as the new game date approaches.

ROBINS 3 SOUTH SUBURBAN 10
January 29, 2004
The Robins encountered a bit of a bump in the road today when they played the South Suburban Flyers, and lost 10-3. South Suburban came out with an aggressive and fast moving attack, staking themselves to a 6-0 lead at the end of the first period. The Robins played some solid hockey for a stretch of about ten minutes during the third period, playing some solid defense, and scoring two goals on two very nice passing plays. The Robins were out-shot by a tally of 22-12. Becky Vahakangas finished the game with two goals and one assist. Tim Kraske was credited with one goal and one assist, while Kati Fobes also added one assist for the Robins.

ROBINS 5 ANOKA 3
January 23, 2004
After a sub-par performance against Hudson, the Robins bounced back in great fashion with an exciting, hard fought 5-3 victory over a much-improved Anoka squad. The team was determined to come out and play hard for the entire 45 minutes of this game, and it definitely showed as the Robins used outstanding teamwork and defense to get the win. The Robins led 3-1 heading into the third period, but Anoka had tied the game before 2 minutes had come off the clock in the third. From there, the Robins really dug in defensively to stop the offensive attack of Anoka, while managing to put in two more goals of their own. Chris Schumacher led the way with four goals and one assist. Becky Vahakangas was credited with one goal and one assist, while Tim Kraske also contributed two assists. The Robins out-shot Anoka 67-31, while Jessica Tounsley made 28 saves.

ROBINS 2 HUDSON 8
January 15, 2004
The Robins second game of the season was a bit more difficult than the first, as the Robins lost to the Hudson Raiders 8-2. Hudson led 4-0, until Chris Schumacher netted the Robins first goal 34 seconds into the second period. Unfortunately, the Robins were not able to really mount any sort of offensive threat, and Hudson was able to maintain control of this game throughout. Becky Vahakangas scored the other Robins goal late in the third period. Goalkeeper Jessica Tounsley played a great game despite allowing 8 goals. She made saves on 47 of the 55 Hudson shots on goal.

ROBINS 10 MOUNDSVIEW 6
The Robins got the 2003-04 Floor Hockey season started in great fashion with a 10-6 victory at home over the Moundsview Rams. The Robins used solid defensive play and some good passing to stake themselves to a 3-0 lead halfway through the second period, but the Rams charged back to tie it at 3 before the period ended. The Robins then erupted for seven goals in the third period to put the game away. Sophomore Chris Schumacher led the way with 5 goals and 2 assists, and senior Becky Vahakangas was not far behind with 3 goals and 4 assists. Tim Kraske finished with 2 goals and 1 assist, while Kati Fobes and Josh Buell recorded 1 assist each. Buell and sophomore Ashley Bailey both logged some heavy minutes playing defense for the Robins, and both played an outstanding game. Senior goalkeeper Jessica Tounsley made 34 saves in her first game in the net.
