Adapted Floor Hockey Game Results

ROBINS 13 WAYZATA-MINNETONKA 1
The Robins roll again!!! This game was a great game for some of the Robins younger players to continue their development, as the usual starting line-up played sparingly. Yes, Mike Boss and Kevin Devine got their opportunity to do some damage, but it was players like Chris Schumacher, Kati Fobes and Tim Kraske that really shined! Schumacher scored 4 times, Fobes scored twice and Kraske tallied 2 goals and 3 assists. Boss had 3 goals and 1 assist, Josh Buell recorded 2 assists and Devine added 2 goals and 2 assists for the Robins. Nu Yang turned in another great performance, as usual, stopping 17 of the 18 Lakers shots she faced. With just 2 games remaining on the regualr season schedule the Robins are 8-1-1, and are just 1 point behind St. Paul Humboldt in the standings.

ROBINS 11 SOUTH SUBURBAN 4
Another big win!!! The Robins faced the South Suburban Flyers for the second time this year, and once again came away with a victory. For most of the game, this one was closer than the final score might indicate. The Flyers were within 2, at 6-4 heading into the third period, but with 9:30 remaining the Robins offense exploded. Tim Kraske started the outburst with a nice goal off a pass from Kevin Devine. Devine then scored two of his own in a matter of 15 seconds, and later Josh Buell finished the scoring with just under 4 minutes left in the game. Mike Boss scored one goal and one assist during the offensive attack also. For the game, Boss finished with 3 goal and 3 assists, Devine had 3 goals and 4 assists, Kraske and Chris Schumacher both had 2 goals and 1 assist. The 9th grade trio of Kraske, Schumacher and Kati Fobes continued to put forth outstanding efforts on both ends of the floor...keep up the good work!!!

ROBINS 4 MAPLE GROVE 3
The Robins played another extremely close game, but this time they came away with the win! The opponent was the rival Maple Grove Crimson, and as usual, it was a battle to the very end. The Robins trailed 2-0 before the first period was half over, but came back and tied it up. The Crimson scored the only goal of the second period and went to the third period with a 3-2 lead. From there, the Robins team defense tightened up and held the Crimson scoreless long enough for Mike Boss to tie it at three, and for Keith Abram to get the game-winner with just under 9 minutes remaining. Goalie Nu Yang was tremendous again, stopping 21 of the 24 shots she faced. Nu had a lot of help, with Lauren Thompson, Amy Gradner and Eddie Nelson playing great defense all game long.

ROBINS 5 DAKOTA 5
The Robins traveled to Rosemount High School to face the Dakota United Hawks, but couldn't quite come away with a victory. They didn't lose either...both teams played well and fought hard, but the game ended in a 5-5 tie. The Robins seemed to be in control for a good portion of the game, but as usual, Dakota stormed back and made sure that the Robins' didn't walk away with an easy victory. Chris Schumacher led the Robins in scoring with 3 goals. Kevin Devine and Mike Boss each scored once, and Keith Abram notched an assist. Nu Yang stopped 17 of the 22 shots she faced. The team continues to improve every game as they march closer and closer to the state tournament!

ROBINS 10 BRAINERD 3
The Robins got back on the winning track with an impressive 10-3 victory over the Brainerd Warriors. Early on, the game looked like it would be a high-scoring shootout, with a score of 6-3 at the end of the first period. From then on, the Robins tightened up their defense, took control of the game and cruised to another win. Mike Boss finished the game with 5 goals and 2 assists. Kevin Devine scored 3 goals and 1 assist, while Chris Schumacher scored 2 goals of his own. Rounding out the scoring, Tim Kraske had 2 assists, and Josh Buell and Kati Fobes also added 1 assist each. The teams' great defense seemed to be the key to the game...Amy Gardner and Lauren Thompson both played extremely well, covering nearly every puck the Warriors put near the Robins' net. Nu Yang stopped 23 of the 26 shots she faced, making several spectacular saves in the process. At mid-season, the Robins are 5-1 and are in good shape to make a run at their third consecutive Adapted Floor Hockey State Championship!!!

ROBINS 3 ROCHESTER 6
The Robins' current winning streak was halted at 7 (dating back to last season) with a 6-3 loss at Rochester. Despite the loss, the Robins played very well offensively and defensively. The few mistakes made by the team were quickly taken advantage of by a very quick and talented Raiders squad. The Robins jumped out to a 2-0 first period lead, but Rochester tied it before the second period was over. The Robins trailed 4-3 until the final few minutes of the game when the Raiders scored two insurance goals to finally seal the win. Freshman Tim Kraske, Senior Mike Boss and 8th grader Kevin Devine each scored one goal for the Robins, while Devine and Becky Vahakangas each had an assist. Senior goalie Nu Yang stopped 25 of the 31 Raiders shots she faced.

ROBINS 10 ANOKA-HENNEPIN 5
The Robins entered this game a little bit shorthanded, missing Becky Vahakangas and Keith Abram, but still played quite well, and defeated Anoka-Hennepin 10-5. Mike Boss and Kevin Devine both turned in outstanding efforts to help lead the Robins to victory. Boss scored a career-high and team record 8 goals, while assisting on 2 others. At the same time, Devine recorded a career-high and team record 6 assists while scoring 1 goal. Tim Kraske scored the Robins other goal and added 1 assist. The Robins trailed 1-0 early in the first period, but then stormed back scoring 5 times in just over 3 minutes. Nu Yang stopped 31 of the 36 Mustang shots she faced, and improved her goalkeeping record to 4-0 for the season. Keep up the good work Robins!!!
Up next: ROCHESTER!!!

ROBINS 10 MOUNDS VIEW 1
The Robins once again continued to play very well, and thoroughly defeated a young and somewhat inexperienced Mounds View squad by a score of 10-1. Mike Boss led the scoring once again by totaling 3 goals and 2 assists. Tim Kraske and Keith Abram scored 2 goals each, while Chris Schumacher and Becky Vahakangas both scored 1 goal each. Goalkeeper Nu Yang stopped 6 of the 7 Rams shots she faced, while Eddie Nelson, Lauren Thompson and Amy Gardner all made solid contributions defensively. The Robins are now 3-0, and will face Anoka on 1-28-03.

ROBINS 12 WHITE BEAR LAKE 3
The Robins again came up big in their home-opener, defeating the White Bear Lake Bears 12-3. For the second straight game, the Robins put forth a solid team effort, and continued to put their pre-season struggles behind them. The Robins stayed true to their typical form, they came out strong and put the game away early. This game was a little different than most though...the supporting cast did most of the dirty work early, giving the team a 4-0 lead after one period. Five minutes passed in the second period before Mike Boss scored his first goal, but he then went on a tear scoring three straight. Kati Fobes and Chris Schumacher continued to play extremely well, while newcomer Tim Kraske turned in another solid effort, scoring two goals and one assist. Keith Abram led the team in scoring, recording four goals and two assists. Boss finished with three goals and one assist, and Kevin Devine added two goals and two assists of his own. Nu Yang played another great game, stopping 22 of the 25 White Bear Lake shots. The Robins are now 2-0, and will be facing the Moundsview Rams next Tuesday.

ROBINS 11 HUDSON RAIDERS 5
The Robins rebounded well from a rough start to the season at Rochester by handily beating the Hudson Raiders in Hudson, WI. This was the first time in over two years that these teams had faced one another, and this outcome was almost the same as the last, with the Robins winning by a score of 11-5. It was great to see the team start off the regular season with a complete team effort. Many times in the past, the team hasn't played a complete team game until near mid-season...hopefully this is a sign of good things to come. Mike Boss and Kevin Devine both found the back of the net five times, with Kati Fobes scoring the only other goal for the Robins. Boss, Becky Vahakangas and newcomer Tim Kraske all recorded two assist each. Goaltender Nu Yang stopped 17 of the 22 Raiders shots that she faced. Of the five goals given up by Yang, four of them came well after the outcome of the game had been decided. (The Robins jumped out to a 7-1 lead before the second period was half over.) GREAT JOB ROBINS!!!

ROCHESTER TOURNAMENT
The Robins traveled to Rochester, MN to play in the First Annual Andrew Cormack Invitational Adapted Floor Hockey Tournament on December 27 & 28, 2002. The tournament consisted of four teams and three non-conference/exhibition games for each participating team. In the first game, the Robins definitely looked like the team that has captured the State Championship the past two years with an 8-0 victory over the South Suburban Flyers. The next two games were definitely a bigger challenge. The Robins fought hard against the very physical Dakota United Hawks, and kept the game close before finally losing 3-2. In their third and final game of the weekend, the Robins faced the eventual tournament champion Rochester Raiders. It was obvious that the team was drained physically and emotionally from the battle against Dakota in the 3-0 loss to the Raiders. Overall, the tournament was a great experience and a whole lot of fun for the Robins. We are definitely looking forward to participating in this event again next year. For the weekend, Mike Boss led the Robins in scoring with 5 goals and 2 assists. Kevin Devine scored 3 goals and 2 assists while Keith Abram added 1 goal and 3 assists.
