08/20/2007: Robins Adapted Athletics 25th Anniversary Season (2007-08)
The Robins Adapted Athletics team began in 1983 in the Robbinsdale School District, founded by original head coach Lloyd Olson. The original team was founded for students with physical impairments, and later expanded to have a team for students with cognitive impairments. The 2007-2008 season is our 25th Anniversary! On Thursday, September 20th, 2007 we will hold our 25th Anniversary Celebration at Robbinsdale Armstrong High School. The event will kick-off with our P.I. Team regular season game at 6:00pm and our C.I. team regular season game at 7:30pm. There will be a fundraiser raffle with great prixes donated by local businesses. There is free admsision and free freshments for our guests. Anyone who has been involved with the Robins team is encouraged to attend, this will be a great gathering for our alumni and staff. We hope the entire community will come support and celebrate 25 great years with us!.
06/20/2007: Onsum Brothers Inducted into World Sports Humanitarian Hall Of Fame
In June 2007, Marcus & Steve were inducted into the World Sports Humanitarian Hall Of Fame in Boise, Idaho. The brothers were also named USA Weekend Magazine's 'Most Caring Coaches" in October 2006. During their trip to Boise, the brothers visited with children at a youth center, children's hospital and mingled with fellow inductees NASCAR veteran Kyle Petty, eight-time NBA All-star Dikembe Mutombo and seven-time Major League Baseball All-Star Edgar Martinez.
06/02/2007: Adapted Softball State Champions
The Robins entered the 2007 MSHSL State Adapted Softball Tournament as the undefeated #1 North seed and faced tough competition in the semi-final and championship games. In the semi-finals the Robins defeated #3 North seed Mounds view/irondale/Roseville 5-4 in a come from behind victory to advance to the championship game against the #2 North seed Anoka-Hennepin . In the championship game the Robins were up 4-3 in the fourth inning, but Anoka-Hennepin tied the score at 5-5 in the fifth. Ethan Brenna (Cooper H.S.) started the final scoring drive for the Robins when he hit a triple in the bottom of the sixth inning. Harrison Lerner (Hopkins) followed with a single that brought Brenna home and gave the Robins their final advantage. Alex Stoiaken (Mound-Westonka) had two RBI for the Robins in the victory. The Robins season success was due to great team unity and solid defense. Brothers Josh & Jess Klein (Armstrong H.S.) were named to the Wells Fargo All-Tournament Team. Congratulations to the Robins on their 5th MSHSL Adapted Softball State Championship!!! |
