Game Results
Honors
With the Softball season and tournament ending the team members
named to All-Conference honorable mention were Tim Johnson and
Ryan Degner. The players making All-Conference were Josh Bell,
Andy Bell, and senior Shawn Wheelock. Named to All-Tournament
team for the Robins was Andy Bell. The Robins will miss their
seniors Shawn Wheelock, Angel Mire, Heidi Sunders, Thom Sander
and Marnie Manning.
Robins 16 - Dakota 12
The Robins defeated a strong Dakota team in the Consolation
Championship with a last inning run of 5 runs to take it 16-12.
During the season the Robins defeated Dakota by 1 run in a real
nail bitter of a game. Dakota won the toss to start the game
and the Robins got 2 runs in the top of the 1st inning, and
Dakota answered with 2 runs. With no runs in the 2nd for either
team the Robins got 3 in the 3rd and Dakota answered with only
1 run in the 3rd and 1 in the 4th. Robins came up dry in the
4th and made their move getting 5 runs in the 5th after Anoka
got 3 in the bottom of the 5th. Robins scored 1 in the 6th and
Dakota came up with a small rally of 3 in the 6th. With the
score of the Robins having 11 and Dakota 10 to start the 7th
Dakota went ahead in the bottom of the 6th to start the 7th
inning the Robins ralley and brought in 5 runs. With a 16-12
lead and 1 out Shawn Wheelock made a doubleplay to win the game.
Josh Bell had 1 hit and no runs, Jacob Yurick had 2 hits 2 runs,
with Heidi Sunders bat coming alive with 4 hits with 3 runs.
Andy Bell had a very strong game with 4 hits and 4 runs to give
the team a real boost. Tim Johnson had 3 hits with 2 runs, Rachel
Strande a great start with a good hit to left. Thom Sander had
3 hits, 2 runs with a couple of strong fielding moves including
a doubleplay. Mary Devine had 2 hits and 1 run along with Shawn
Wheelock with 4 hits and 1 run. Angel Mire had 2 hits and 2
runs. Ryan Degner and Jonathan Krolak each contributed with
sacrifices. On the bench keeping things the spirit alive were
Marnie Manning, Trevin Rawls, Jason Dorr and Tom Smith. Congratulations
to a great season and a great tournament for the Robins.
Robins 14 - Anoka 13
In a tiebreaking 8th inning the Robins defeated Anoka to advance
to the Consolation Championship game Saturday afternoon. Anoka
scored 5 runs in the first inning with the Robins answering
in the bottom of the second with 5 runs of their own after Anoka
went down 1,2,3 in the 2nd inning. Each team got 1 in the 3rd
to keep it tied. Anoka got 5 in the 4th and the Robins answered
with only 1. It looked like Anoka was going to make their move
when the Robins got them out again 1,2,3. In the bottom of the
5th with Andy Bell leading the way the Robins bats came alive
and with the go ahead run came in with 5 runs. In the top of
the 6th Anoka hit the go ahead runs by scoring 2. the Robins
go them out and new they had to get 2 runs to win. In a deperation
move Anoka walked 2 players. With the bases loaded Josh Bell
hit a long ball to left and brought in the winning runs. The
Robins advance to the Consolation game at 1:30pm. Josh Bell
3 hits and 2 runs, Jacob Yurick 2 hits 2 runs, Heidi Sunders
2 hits 2 runs, Andy Bell 3 hits 2 runs, Tim Johnson 2 hits and
Thom Sander 2 hits with 1 run. Mary Devine 2 hits, Shawn Wheelock
1 hit 1 run. Rounding out the hitting was Angel Mire with a
great 3 hits, 1 walk and 3 runs and Ryan Degner had 3 hits 1
run, while Jonathan Krolak had 1 hit. On the bench were Marnie
Manning, Tevin Rawls, Jason Dorr, and Tom Smith.
Robins 10 - Minneapolis 13
The Robins lost the first game of tournament in a heartbreaker
to Minneapolis with a score of 13-10 coming back from a 6-13
deficit in the 7th inning with 2 runs on and Jonathan Krolak
up to bat. Jonathan hit a hard ball but it was caught and the
rally was over. The Robins who usually have outstanding bats
and fielding struggled in the first 4 innings. With only 3 in
the first, 2 in the 2nd and 1 in the 4th the Robins managed
to stay close with 5 to 7 in the 3rd, before Minneapolis broke
it open scoring 5 in the 4th to take a substantial lead. Going
down 1,2, and 3 in the 5th the Robins held Mpls to only 1 in
the 5th with a 1, 2, and 3 in the top of the 6th and the same
at the top of the 7th. Ralley time came in the 7th but too late
to keep the Robins going. Josh Bell had 2 runs off 4 hits. Jacob
Yurick had 2 runs off 2 hits with an unusual switching hitting
move by Jacob. Andy Bell also had 2 runs but off 3 hits. Thom
Sander had 1 hit with 1 run, Mary Devine had 1 run of 2 hits.
Shawn Wheelock had 1 run off 2 hits. Angel Mire with a great
catch in the 6th had 2 hits with 1 run. Ryan Degner struggled
with 1 hits, while Rachel Strande also struggled tonight with
only 1 hit. Subbing for Rachel was Hopkins player for the Robins
Jonathan Krolak, who came in with an opportunity to be the hero.
With a good hit in the 6th and a hit that almost broke it open
in the 7th Jonathan did a great job off the bench. Tim Johnson
had 1 hit as did Heidi Sunders. Rounding out the Robins bench
was Marni Manning, Revin Rawls, Jason Dorr and missing an opportunity
to help out was Tom Smith who didn't have his uniform tonight.
The Robins meet Anoka at 10:30 am Saturday and with a win go
on to play again. On the outside chance they lose they would
be heading home. The Robins made it exciting tonight and we
look forward to a great winning game tomorrow morning.
Robins 12 - Minneapolis 11
The Robins defeated Minneapolis in the last regular game of
the season in the last inning with 2 outs and the winning runner
on base with Ryan Degner up to bat. Ryan hit Angel Mire home
to for the 3rd time this softball season to pull it out for
the Robins. Josh Bell had 4 hits and 2 runns while Andy Bell
had 3 hits with 2 runs along with Rachel Strande with 3 hits
and 2 runs. Tim Johnson had 2 hits and 2 runs for a great effort
tonight. Shawn Wheelock, and Ryan Degner each had 3 hits and
1 run. Senior Angel Mire finished her season with a very respectable
2 hits and 1 game winning run. Rounding out the batting for
the Robins wa Heidi Sunders and Jonathan Krolak each with to
hits and no runs. The Robins started off strong with 5 runs
in the 1st and 1 run in the 2nd. Mpls came in wiht 1 run in
the 3rd and again with 4 runs in the 4th inning. Down 1, 2,
and 3 in both the 3rd and 4th. Mpls had a strong 5th inning
with 5 runnings to take the lead. The Robins once again came
up with 4 runs in the 5th to make it a close game. Mpls score
1 in the 6th, and the Robins answered with 1 in the 6th. When
needed and with 2 outs the Robins score 2 more runs to win the
last game of the regular season and go into tournaments in 3rd
place. Great season Robins keep it up.
Robins 17 - Moundsview 7
The Robins defeated Moundsview at Moundsview 17-10 in 5 innings.
Andy Bell who hit 1 home run and 3 other hits had 4 hits to
lead the Robins. Josh Bell, Jacob Yurick, Angel Mire, and Ryan
Degner each had 2 hits and 2 runs. Shawn Wheelock who pitched
a great game and was instrumental in the second triple play
of the season had 3 hits and 1 run. Heidi Sunders who had 1
hit and 1 run along with Mary Devine who both had great defensive
games. Rachel Strande also had 1 hit. Rounding out the Robins
offense was Tim Johnson with 4 hits and 2 runs. This gives the
Robins a 8-2 record. Moundsview struggled in the first 3 innings
but had a rally in the 4th with 4 runs. The Robins who had a
10 run lead retired the side 1,2, and 3 for the 10 run rule
victory.
The Robins JV defeated Moundsview 13-8 with Thom Sander and
Tom Smith each hitting 3 and making 3 runs. Rachel Strande and
Jacob Yurick each hitting 2 and making 2 runs. Jason Dorr, Trevin
Rawls, Angel Mire each hat 1 hit and 1 run. Marni Manning who
had a great game pitching also had 2 hits. Jonathan Krolak rounded
out the JV hitting with 1 hit. This was the last JV game of
the undefeated season for the Robins JV. Great Job Junior Varsity.
Robins 7 - Anoka 6
The Robins defeated Anoka in a very exciting game at home. The
Robins Josh Bell and Jacob Yurick each scored 1 run in the 1st
after the Robins retired Anoka 1,2,3. After a going down 1,2,3
in the 2nd and 3rd the Anoka got 1 in each of the 3rd and 4thinnings.
The Robins answered with 1 in the 4th and Anoka went ahead with
3 more in the 6th. The Robins stay in there with 2 in the 6th.
After retiring Anoka in the top of the 7th the Robins made their
final move with 2 runs in the 7th to win the game. Josh Bell
beat the throw to home to score the winning run off of Ryan
Degner's hit. This is the 2nd time Ryan has hit the final hit
to win the game for the Robins. The other time his hit won the
game against St. Paul Humbolt. Josh Bell had 4 hit and 2 runs,
Jacob Yurick had 4 hits and 1 run. Rachel Stande and Jonathan
Krolak each had 3 hits and 1 run while, Mary Devine , Shawn
Wheelock, each had 2 hits and 1 run. Andy Bell made 1 hit and
1 run. Heidi Sunder who played an excellent defensive game had
1 hit. Angel Mire had 2 hits to round out the team effort. Also
contributing to the Robins was Senior Thom Sander who was replaced
in the 3rd inning by Rachel Stande.
The Robins JV defeated Anoka 9-7 in the last inning. Thom Sander
who was the Robins closer had 2 hits and 2 runs. While Jacob
Yurick, Tim Johnson, each also had 2 hits and 2 runs. Marni
Manning hit 2 and had 1 run while Rachel Strande and Nicole
Crawford had 1 hit and 1 run. Tom Smith walked and made 1 run.
This keeps the JV undefeated for the softball season.
Robins 23 - North Suburban 6
The Robins started out strong with 3 runs in the 1st inning.
Then stayed strong with 5 runs in the 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th
innings. The Robins held North Suburban to 2 runs in the 1st,
1 in the 2nd , 2 in the 4th and 1 in the 5th. Leading the Robins
with 4 hits and 3 runs was Josh Bell, followed by Andy Bell,
Rachel Strande, and Ryan Degner each with 3 hit and 3 runs.
Angel Mire had 3 hits 2 runs, while Tim Johnson had 2 hits,
2 runs. Jacob Yurick had 3 hits with 1 run along with Heidi
Sunders. Jonathan Krolak had 2 hits with 1 run and rounding
out the scoring was Mary Devine, Trevin Rawls, Marnie Manning,
and Shawn Wheelock with each 1 hit and 1 run. Shawn Wheelock
pitched a great 4 innings with a score of 18 for the Robins
and 5 for North Suburban, when coach Evans put closer Marnie
Manning in to finish the game. The final score for the game
was 23-6 bringing the Robins record to 6 and 2 as they move
into the last 3 games of the season. Also playing for the Robins
tonight was Thom Sander who started on 2nd base and was replaced
by Jonathan Krolak.
Robins 16 - St. Paul Humbolt
The Robins defeated St. Paul with a 10 run rule 16-6 with 2
outs, with the winning run on 2nd base, Ryan Degner became the
hero and hit Rachel Stande home to win the game. The Robins
were hot tonight with 3 hits by Josh Bell, Jacob Yurick, Heidi
Sunders, Andy Bell and Jonathan Krolak who made his first run
tonightin a varsity game. Josh, and Jacob, each had 3 runs while
Heidi made 2 runs. Tim Johnson, Rachel Strande, Shawn Wheelock,
Angel Mire, and Ryan Degner each had 2 hits with Tim coming
in twice and Shawn, Angel, Ryan and Rachel each making 1 runs.Thom
Sander contributed with one double but the side retired with
5 runs and no outs leaving Thom on 2nd base during the first
inning. This was an out standing win for the Robins who have
had troube with St. Paul for the past 15 years losing to them
in not only softball but hockey and soccer also. Great Job Robins!
Rounding out the Robins bench were Senior Marnie Manning and
freshman Jason Dorr.
Robins 14 - Dakota 13
In an upset the Robins defeated Dakota at home with a score
of 14-13 with the tying run on 3rd and 2 outs and 2 strikes,
Shawn Wheelock pitching a great game when Dakota hit a long
ball to center field and Josh Bell threw to catcher Tim Johnson
who tagged the runner coming home to win the game for the Robins.
It was a back and forth game from the onset. Andy Bell, Mary
Devine, Rachel Strande, Heid Sunders, and Shawn Wheelock each
had 3 hits and 2 runs. Josh Bell,and Sam Harrington had 2 hits
and 1 run. Tim Johnson had 3 hits and 1 run, while Angel Mire
had 1 hit and 1 run. Jonathan Krolak, Ryan Degner, and Jacob
Yurick each had 1 hit to make it a team effort. The Robins record
moves to 4-2.
The Robins JV defeated Dakota with a score of 15-1 with 3 runs
from Thom Sander,2 runs from Heidi Sunders, Jacob Yurick, Marni
Manning, Rachel Strande, and Angel Mire and 1 run from Tim Johnson
and Mary Devine. Marni Manning pitched another great game since
her debut as JV pitcher on Tuesday. Jason Dorr had 2 hits while
Jonathan Krolak rounded out the JV roster. the JV continue to
be undefeated.
Robins 16 - South Suburban 6
In a 6 inning game called for the 10 run rule the Robins defeated
South Suburban 16-6. Highlights of the game included a triple
play by the Robins in the 4th inning. Shawn Wheelock caught
the ball and threw it to Heidi Sunders who got the runner out
and ran the other runner down pitching it to Josh Bell to give
the Robins their first triple play of the season. Shawn Wheelock,
Thom Sanders, and Rachel Strande each made 3 runs while Andy
Bell, Josh Bell, Tim Johnson each came in 2 times each. The
final score for the Robins was made by Angel Mire. Other contributing
Robins were Jacob Yurick who made a great catch in the field
and Ryan Degner. this brings the Robins to 3 wins and 2 loses
for the season.
The Robins JV defeated South Suburban JV with a score of 16-11.
Marni Manning made her debut at the pitching mound striking
out 6 batters. Marni also caught a great fly and also threw
3 people out at 1st basebase. 1st basemen Jonathan Krolak and
Marni were a great combination. Tom Smith at short stop contributed
with 5 runs for the evening while Marni Manning and Jonathan
each came in with 4 runs. Trevin Rawls made 3 runs and Jason
Dorr had a great triple to bring in the first 2 runs of the
game. The JV remain undefeated.
Robins 15 - Wayzata 2
The Robins of Robbinsdale, Hopkins and Mound-Westonka defeated
Wayzata 15-2 at Wayzata. The Robins started strong with 5 in
the 1st with quick in and out in the 2nd and 3rd the Robins
again scored 4 runs. Wayzata got in the game with 1 run in the
4th. Again the Robins went down one, two , three and Wayzata
scored again in the 5th. The Robins delivered another running
streak in the 6th with 5 runs. Andy Bell and Sam Harrington
each scored 3 runs and Jacob Yurick, Heidi Sunders, Tim Johnson
and Thom Sander each came in with 2 runs. Ryan Degner rounded
out the runs with 1. Sam Harrington, Andy Bell and Thom Sanders
each had strong games for the Robins. Shawn Wheelock had a great
game on the pitching mound. Home runs tonight by Andy Bell with
1, Jacob Yurick with 1 and Thom Sander with 2. Rounding out
the Robins Varsity roster were Mary Devine, Angel Mire, Josh
Bell, and Jonathan Krolak. This brings the Robins record to
2-2.
The Robins JV defeated Wayzata 11-1 with great job as pitcher
by Thom Sander. Mary Devine on first, and Jacob Yurick at short
stop. Rounding out the JV game roster were Tom Smith with a
great catch at 2nd base, Tim Johnson catching, Marni Manning
on 3rd, Jason Dorr in right field, Jonathan Krolak in left field,
Trevin Rawls in right center, and Angel Mire in left center.
The Robins JV remain undefeated this season.
Robins 15 - Buffalo 10
The Robins defeated Buffalo 15-10. The Robins started strong
answering the Buffalo's 1 run in the 1st inning with 2 runs
of their own. The Robins were out 1,2,3 in the 2nd with Buffalo
making 1 run in the 2nd to tie up the score. The Robins brought
in 2 runs in the 3rd inning while Buffalo anwered with only
1 run. The Robins had a big inning in the 5th with 5 runs while
Buffalo answered with only 2 runs. Buffalo answered with 2 in
the 5th. The Robins scored 4 runs in the 6th to bring their
score to 15. Buffalo came on srong in the 6th to answer with
3 runs in the 6th inning and again with with 2 runs in the 7th
inning to retire the side and hang on to win the game 15-10.
The Robins lead scorer was Josh Bell, while Jacob Yurick, Andy
Bell, Thom Sanders and Shawn Wheelock each scored 2. Rounding
out the scoring was Heidi Sunders, Tim Johnson, Ryan Degner,
and Angel Mire each with 1 run. This was the Robins first victory
of the season. The Robins travel to Wayzata on Thursday April
24, 2003.
Robins 6 - Osseo 16
The Robins were defeated by Osseo 16-6. By the end of the 2nd
inning the score was tied 4-4. Osseo moved ahead by one in the
3rd and broke loose in the 4th with 5 runs. The Robins answered
with only 2 in the 5th. Josh Bell, Andy Bell Heidi Sunder, and
Shawn Wheelock each scored 1 run. Tim Johnson and Thom Sanders
each scored a run in the 5th with Tim Johnson again scoring
in the last inning. Other contributing Robins were Ryan Degner,
Sam Harrington, Rachel Strande, Thom Sander, Angel Mire, Mary
Devine, and Jonathan Krolak. Osseo scored their remaining runs
in the 6th inning. Jacob Yurick had a great catch in the right
field while the Robins had a number of other great plays in
the game including one double play.
The Robins JV defeated Osseo 6-5 with runs from Thom Sander
Tim Johnson, Jason Dorr, Angel Mire, Mary Devine and Jacob Yurick.
Also contributing to the win was Marni Manning Tom Smith, Heidi
Sunders and Jonathan Krolak.
Robins 4- South Washington 20
The Robins lost the home opener to South Washington 20-4. Missing
3 star players the Robins started out keeping up to So. Washington
and at the start of the 2nd inning the score was 5-3 With Ryan
Degner, Heidi Sunders and Tim Johnson each scoring one in the
1st inning. In the bottom of the 2nd inning Rachel Strande came
in on a triple by Jonathon Krolak. The Robins remained scoreless
for the next few innings and the game was called 20-4. Hopefully
there will be a full roster when the Robins meet Osseo at Osseo
on Thursday 4/17/03.
The Robins JV defeated South Washington JV 7-6 the last inning
of play and with Thom Sanders, Tom Smith, Jason Dorr, Rachel
Strande, and Jonathan Krolak each scoring 1 and Jacob Yurick
winning the game with 2 runs and grand slam in the last inning.
2003 Adapted Softball Season
The Robins 2002 Adapted Softball Season begins in April 2003.
We hope to see all of our parents and fans at our games this
season. Go Robins!
